Direct email marketing is a more sophisticated form of email campaign, more attractive version of spam. One of the differences is the fact, that if you want to receive newsletters or email messages, you must subscribe it – give your permission, because it is not an unsolicited commercial email. Direct email marketing is the way of campaign which rely on sending advertising messages to a specific recipients. They get an interesting email, nice looking, with a lot of useful information. Moreover, the stuff which they receive is suitable for them – it matches their interests, jobs and so on. I mean that the group which gets email is closely definite – companies want to be sure that their recipients find newsletter or message attractive and professional. They do not want their emails to be considered as a spam. It must represent a higher lever for appropriate people and that is why they may use customer segmentation. Direct email marketing uses also personalization techniques – receiver is addressed with his/her own name.
